Not many posts here, so FWIW...
I started looping around 1970/71 with a couple of Akai 4000D reel2reel machines (couldn't afford Revoxes then!). Ran up the odd oversized wooden capstan for varispeed purposes, but didn't really get going 'til I bought an Arion DDS-4 (4 seconds of sample, wow!!) in about '89. I could get a couple of bars of soukous riff on to this (I was into Congolese music at the time - still am) & loved it.
A Digitech Time Machine followed (7.6 seconds) & the 'Invisible String Quartet' was born. This expanded with the inevitable JamMan (32 seconds & up to 8 loops; why did they stop making it?).
Of course the encoders are starting to fail for the second time around, & I'm working with Mobius as a replacement.
Since I never felt able to afford an EDP, it's a bit of a struggle, but I'm encouraged by Jeff Larsen's admissions that even he doesn't fully understand some of the EDP manual :).
Eventually I'll stop trying to make Mobius imitate ancient history & just play with it a bit. In finding out some of the things it won't do though, I'm getting a feel for the way it works (I think....)

Hi Dave,

I think I may have seen a gig of yours at the Klinker, going back a few years this is. Are you using Mobius live yet?

A v. belated Hi Jeremy!
How embarassing, nearly a year since I checked this forum...
Yes you quite probably saw me at the Klinker (Sussex, Tottenham, Salisbury...), but it's on sabbatical this year, & so am I pretty much.
No, didn't get mobius out live yet, mostly 'cos I was waiting for the softstep to come out to control it; well it's here, works most of the time, but it's buggy.
Meanwhile thanks to Andy Butler's mate I got quite a lot of the old kit fixed, so've been messing with that again.
Maybe if I get mobius/softstep working properly I'll get something organised!
