Hi.
I run mobius at 48 khz. But when I export wave files, mobius save them at 44 Khz, so the pitch is shift down ! Of course, when I reload a project file, mobius read it at the original pitch :good point. But, I need to export my track to apply some effects and I don't want to run my audio at 44 Khz. The reason is when you apply post-processing, especially pitch-shifting, it's better to work at high audio-rate. And I wil not make compromise on audio quality ( please don't answer that there is no difference between 44/48 for the ear, I know), so mobius is excellent and could be a "professionnal looper". Mobius deserve a 48 Khz audio rate compatibility , especially in 2010...don't you think?
Moody.
I find that the bit depth (32 vs 16) is more important than sample
rate, at least when comparing 44 and 48. There is more of
a difference between 48 and 96 but the difference between 44 and 48 is very subtle.
Supporting other sample rates is complicated and won't happen any time soon. What you can try is saving at 44, resampling to 96 using whatever
DAW you use for post-processing, doing your post processing at 96, then
resampling back down to 44 if you want to return to Mobius. It's not the
same, but it should be marginally better.
I certainly don't claim that Mobius is "audiophile" but since most people
use it for live performance rather than pristine studio recording I don't
get a lot of complaints about the low sample rate. I'll add support
for other sample rates someday but I can't say when.
After thinking about this more...
When you run Mobius with a 48K sample rate, it doesn't resample
it down to 41. When you save project files all the samples that were
recorded are there in the file, it's just that the file was incorrectly
tagged as being at 44.1. So when you load this file into another
system it will either resample it to match the system sample rate (48 or
whatever which will be "lossy") or it will leave it alone and just play
it back at the wrong rate which is *not* lossy, it just shifts the pitch.
If you're sure the DAW isn't messing with the samples, you can apply
any algorithms you want, you are still effectively dealing with a 48K
file it's just that the DAW plays it back wrong. Process it, save it,
and load it back into Mobius and Mobius will play it at the rate
it was recorded in (48k).
I know this sounds weird but the key is that you actually did sample
the audio at 48, and created a file with those samples. It's just that
the file has the incorrect sample rate stored in the header. The incorrect
sample rate confuses DAWs when they try to play it but if you apply
effects to it you are still dealing with a 48K sampled signal.

Hi Jeff.
Thanks for your answer. I'm agree with you when you say that bit depth is more important than sample rate. But when you apply spectral/time effects like pitch shift or time stretch, I think sample rate is very important too !
In wavelab, I can change the header property ( If i'm not wrong): work well and then read the exported file at the good pitch. But if I save the file with new header info, Mobius can't reopen it. Does Mobius read 44 khz ( header info )wave files only? It' s not really an issue cause but could make things more easy.
Well, I'm happy to know that my files are saved in 48 khz. Good thing since I want to jam and reopen files in my DAW for editing and arrangement with 48 khz sample rate !
Sorry for my bad english.
Yes, Mobius will currently refuse to load wave files that don't
have a 44100 sample rate in the header. There isn't a good reason for this,
I should take this out.
You will have to use another tool to change the sample rate in the header
before loading it into Mobius.
