Does anyone know of a command to reset the master tempo from another track?

I sometimes wish to reset a new master tempo from a different (or even the original) track. To clarify;

Say the original master tempo is set from track 1. After a bit of looping and playing, I decide that the contents of track 3 sound interesting, and I want that to be the new master tempo. But I may have tweaked the timing of this track by changing the rate, or inserting a couple of sub-cycles here and there, or whatever. So, I'm looking for a command to tell Mobius that I now wish to use the tempo of track 3 as the master tempo.

Is this possible?

If not, Jeff please consider this for the next version.

Yes that is possible. I don't remember the name of the command yet, but I remember we got it last year; the option to tell Mobius that one of the synced tracks should now take over the role of being the tempo master track. Check the manual for it, if no one else chimes in here with the actual function name. I guess you could simply search the manual pages for "tempo" or "master" to find it. It could be that it is only available by a script though (don't remember since I don't use it that way myself)

Interesting that you are actually making music of multiple tempi!

Thanks Per. Having searched through the manual (and scripting manual), I can't see any reference to this.

Except maybe:

When track sync is enabled, the first track that records a loop becomes the track sync master and all other tracks will synchronize to the master track. Any track may become the track sync master. If a track that was the sync master is reset, the next track to finish recording a new loop becomes the sync master.

but this isn't going to work because I obviously wouldn't want to RESET the loop that I'm working on - that's the one I want to become the new master!

You can change the "track sync" master track with the a new function Per was mentioning (Sync Master Track).

But you can't currently change the MIDI sync master, there is a function
for this (Sync Master MIDI) but it doesn't work yet.

Ah I see, you're quite right. This does enable other tracks to sync up (although not if the rate of the master track is changed - that's a big shame), but the old tempo is still displayed and MIDI devices keep the old tempo.

Next version then :)

Thanks.
