View Full Version : single layers when saving project?

hello ev'rybody, i have two little problems:
#1 i have recorded several tracks in mobius and saved them via "save project". i have checked the box "save layers".
the resulting wav files have
1.track: first layer
2. track: second AND first layer
3. track: third AND second AND first layer.
i would like to have the layers as single layers, so i can put them together in a different audio prog and fool around with them.
anybody have an idea how to solve this?

#2 i would like to record a small loop in track one and record something into the other tracks later on, but have them be in synch with track 1. this is more or less the way the repaeter and the electro harmonix work.
how can i do this with mobius?

help is greatly appreciated.

i have recorded several tracks in mobius and saved them via "save project". That's a misunderstanding: "Save project" doesn't save tracks, it saves loops. "Tracks" in Mobius are to be understood as channels that loops are played back through. Through each track a virtually infinite number of loops can play back in a linear fashion, one after the other.

i would like to have the layers as single layers, so i can put them together in a different audio prog and fool around with them.
anybody have an idea how to solve this?In Global Parameters, check "Save Project Layers". I've done this and beware; there will be A LOT of files rendered on the drive ;-)

No. The Repeater creates one loop that contains four tracks. On a Repeater you can not do things like for example reversing one track of the loop. If you have enabled and set up Track Sync in Mobius preferences the four loops would sync like on a repeater IF they are of the same length. There are many ways to achieve this functionality, but my method is to use both the setting "Timing" for "Loop Copy" and "Track Copy" (in the Switch tab). This gives that when I have recorded on one track and select a new, empty, track an empty loop of the same length as the loop on the first track is created. Then I can use the command Overdub (or Substitute ore any scripted weird stuff) to fill audio into that loop. The point here is that the empty loop is created in perfect sync ("like the Repeater" I guess you are thinking about that). If you use a script to switch track and give the command "Record" on the new track this new loop will be a little late - not in sync with the first one. This can of ourse be mended by a "Realigne" or "Retrigger" right after the "Record", but as I said I have chosen a method that feels more musical and "performance friendly" to me.

thanx per, track sync is doing exactly what i need.

when saving a project with recorded stuff incl. overdubs, i DO get different audio tracks, but track one will have the first loop, track two will have the first loop and the first overdub.
is it possible to get each layer seperately?

ps: we know each other from looper's delight, i remember that you have helped me very effectively before, nice to read from you again...

is it possible to get each layer seperately?Yes, like I said above: In Global Parameters, check "Save Project Layers". I've done this and beware; there will be A LOT of files rendered on the drive ;-)

Generally the files are rendered with a file name to indicate what track, what loop and - if you enabled that as well - what layer of the loop the file is rendered from.

Of course I remember our earlier conversations, Tilman! :-)

I was wondering about the same thing.
Has anyone tried to record all input in parallel? This way, you could chop the input later on and re-use the suitable parts.

This Mobius feature might also be interesting for you:

Layer Flattening
When checked, Mobius will not merge the content fed back from the previous layer with new content while the layer is recorded. Instead, the content of each layer will be merged dynamically as the loop plays. This can be useful as a technique but requires more CPU overhead. See the Controlling Feedback section for more information.
