I’m hoping someone can show me a better way to use “overdub” in my present Mobius/FBC1010/PODxt setup
My setup is 7 different instruments to Sub-Mixer then into PODxt and USB to Mobius
This is not easy setup to explain so I’ve posted some pic’s
I’ve set up Mobius so…
Track 1 = click track with preloaded kick drum
Track 2 = Bass Guitar
Track 3 = Acoustic Guitar
Track 4 = Electric Guitar
Track 5 = Key’s
Track 6 = MIDI drum Kit
Track 7 = Turn Table for Scratching (If you got that itch)
Track 8 = Vocal Dub overs
I’ve set up FBC1010 so…
Bank 2 pedals 1 to 5 select Mobius Track 2 on (MIDICh 2) and each one of pedals 1 to 5 select a Bass Guitar patch on my PODxt (Ch 15)
Bank 3 pedals 1 to 5 select Mobius Track 3 on (MIDI Ch 2) and each one of pedals 1 to 5 select a Acoustic Guitar FX on my PODxt (Ch 15)
Bank 4 pedals 1 to 5 select Mobius Track 4 on (MIDI Ch 2) and each one of pedals 1 to 5 select a Electric Guitar FX on my PODxt (Ch 15)
Bank 5 pedals 1 to 5 select Mobius Track 5 on (MIDI Ch 2) and each one of pedals 1 to 5 select a Key’s patch on my Key’s (MIDI Ch 01)
Bank 6 pedals 1 to 5 select Mobius Track 6 on (MIDI Ch 2) and each one of pedals 1 to 5 select a MIDI drum Kit FX on my PODxt (Ch 15)
Bank 7 pedals 1 to 5 select Mobius Track 7 on (MIDI Ch 2) and each one of pedals 1 to 5 select a Scratch FX different FX on my PODxt (MIDI Ch 15)
Bank 8 pedals 1 to 5 select Mobius Track 8 on (MIDI Ch 2) and each one of pedals 1 to 5 select a Vocal Dub FX on my PODxt (MIDI Ch 15)
Banks 2 to 8, pedals 6 to 10
Pedal 6 Global Pause
Pedal 7 Clear
Pedal 8 Next Track
Pedal 9 Track Mute
Pedal 10 Overdub
Additionally
Bank 0 pedals 1 to 8 are set to on only to FBC1010’s Expression peddles EXP A = Mobius Output level EXP B = Mobius Input level
This is great because once I get several instrument laid down I can EXP A = Mobius Output level to mix all the crap I’ve played to date
Bank 1 pedals 1 to 10 are for more Mobius Command (still juggling)
The idea behind all this is for example if I want to say lay down a bass over my click track (in track 1) I go to FBC1010’s bank 2 and press any of 1 to 5 and mobius has gone to my selected “Mobius track 2"
Depending on which peddle from 1 to 5, I press My PODxt (affectionately call “Podals”) gives me the FX sound I want.
This hold true to all Banks 2 to 8 but different instruments and different FX .
Because Banks 2 to 8, Pedals 6 to 0 share the same Mobius commands
I can Global Pause, Clear, Next Track, Track Mute and Overdub without doing the “gypsy tap” scrolling through FBC1010’s banks to sent Mobius a command
By the way I set
"Loop Copy" = "Timing"
"Track Copy" = "Timing"
“Time copy” = “Play”
“Time copy” = “overdub”
So if I “overdub” it will keep cycle length, (I feel confident someone will correct me on this point)
When I worked all this out and started using it I was so happy. I made a nice cup of tea and a chicken mayo sandwich. Sat back and said to myself…
“Who’s a cleaver boy then” Then the s--- hit the fan!!!
The problem is I’m so keen to move bank’s and to the next instrument that I keep forgetting to turn off “Pedal 10 Overdub”
Oh! What a mess I can get myself into then. I can fix it, even if this means “Pedal 7 Clear” and redoing some tracks. But when I’m in the groove! creative goes out the window. Unfortunately my scripting ability is worse then my Staffordshire bull terrier’s. I hope someone can suggest a way where I can turn off overdub once I have shifted banks.
I’m sorry this post is long, I tried to be as concise.
PS
1 Thank you Jeff for Mobius
