I posted on the yahoo groups but not sure if it is being monitored.

Let me first say that this is an awesome program and the fact it is offered free is nothing short of generous.

Basically I'm hoping to use this in a live settings to create 1 or 2 loops to play over (1 chords, 1 rhythmic for example. I use an FCB1010 and have been able to trigger the record event (1 push on, 1 push off) and use another button to do a reset.

What I would like to do however to assign buttons to individual loops (I think help mentioned tracks) such tht button 1 would send C60 mapped to record / button 6 to reset (cancel the loop it didn't come out right) then while loop 1 is playing button 2 would begin to capture another layer.

How does one do that? It seems that you can only assign 1 value to the record command.

Thank you again!

First let's be clear on some terms:

- loop: an audio recording that plays back over and over
- track: a set of loops, multiple tracks can be playing loops at the
same time, but only one loop can be playing within a track
- layer: a set of audio recordings that are merged to create a loop

In the simplest case to build up a background track you start by using
the Record function to record the first layer. Then if you want to add layers
you use the Overdub function (or another more advanced function like Multiply). If that is the goal then you don't need to use multiple tracks,
just use Overdub in a single loop.

Recording two synchronized tracks is similar to doing an Overdub but
has the advantage of allowing you to use the Output Level control to balance the layers. There are two approaches to managing tracks:

- have one set of buttons for Record, Overdub etc. that control
whatever the selected track is, then have buttons to set the
selected track (Next Track, Previous Track, and others)

- have several sets of buttons for Record, Overdub, etc. that are
each targeted at a particular track, this saves you from having
to "scroll" through tracks before sending it a command, but you can
end up using more buttons

Does that help?

Yes it helps greatly. I'm not familiar with looping concepts so your response is greatly appreciated. I just found an old post on the yahoo site that suggested a review of the Gibson Echoplex PDF. I've started looking at that too.

Thanks for a great program!
