Unrounded multiply: - Is this possible? With the EDP, pressing record after multiply does this, but in Mobius, it starts a new record. I have multiply mode set to 'overdub' (haven't tried it in 'traditional' mode yet).

Hi, you have to set multiply mode to "new" to get unroundet multiply by pressing record after you´ve pressed multiply.
But my exeprience is, in "overdub" or "traditional" mode, mobius does something similar (not the same, because you get only
one cycle whith a new lengh) to roundet multiply, when pressing record after multiply, but not record.

Maybe, deleting mobius and reinstall it, to set the presets to default, would help...

To get Unrounded Multiply the way the EDP does it, set Multiply Mode
to either Traditional or New.

I thought MultiplyMode=Overdub would work to but I guess not,
that's probably a bug.

Thank you Jeff and Piesi,

I'm not familiar with 'New' mode, I don't remember that option in 1.39, perhaps it was added in 1.40 (which I am using, just having played with that option). What's the difference (in terms of how multiply works)?

MultiplyMode=New was added recently, I thought it was in before 1.40 but maybe not.

It attempts to correct some incorrect assumptions about how EDP multiply
works. People were having trouble with Traditional adding extra cycles depending on where you ended the multiply. This was due to some confusion on my part about some diagrams in the EDP manual, New is supposed to be closer to what the EDP does.

This was initially done as an experiment and AFAIK it was generally agreed
that New worked better than Traditional so I will eventually just make Traditional behave like New. It isn't exactly the same as what the EDP
does but it is closer and gets rid of the extra cycle problem.

MultiplyMode=Overdub is now similar to New, but it doesn't do "rounding"
which is controlled with the mysterious Round Mode preset parameter.

MultiplyMode=Overdub behave just like Overdub except that it auto-extends the loop by one cycle when you reach the end.

The meaning of the options is basically this:

Traditional - inserts a new cycle whenever you overdub an amount
equal to a cycle *relative to the point where you started the multiply*

New - inserts a new cycle when

Just been having a play with MultiplyMode=New, and it does indeed seem more satisfactory, not putting that annoying extra cycle in. Oh yes, and it let's me do unrouned multiply. Thanks for the info.

New - inserts a new cycle when

..when? Tell me more!!

Sorry, botched paste...

New - inserts a new cycle when you cross a cycle boundary relative to the beginning of the cycle you were in when you started the multiply

With New, you don't have to worry about where you were when you
started the multiply, it will be obvious when a cycle will be added because
you'll play till the loop end then extend.

New isn't exactly like the EDP but it's pretty close and good enough for
most people. The subtle difference is where the "start point" is left.
Personally I like my implementation better.
