I just picked up a Presonus Studio One and am starting to experiment with it as a live performance DAW. Has anyone used Mobius with it yet, and if so, can you offer any learnings re: best setup and usage?

Here is what I did to get things working so far (Mobius with Studio One V2). Keep in mind that I have only spent a few hours with Studio One so far, so I'm new to this DAW. So far, I am very impressed with Studio One 2, and I think it has great potential, and recommend downloading a demo if you are curious. (I have used Mobius successfully with Reaper, Mainstage, Logic Pro, and Live .... but still in search of the optimum live performance + recording setup).
I needed to put Mobius on a bus, with all audio inputs that I loop assignable to that bus. And, I needed to control Mobius with a SoftStep controller. Here's what worked for me: - set up SoftStep controller as a "Keyboard." (or whatever controller you use). Assign appropriate in and out ports (in my case, SSCOM Port 1). - add Audio tracks for all audio inputs. - add a Bus in the Console, and drag/drop Mobius VST plug-in onto the bus as an Insert - assign post-fade sends on audio tracks to the Mobius bus - add a new Instrument track; set the Instrument Input as your controller (SoftStep, in my case); set Instrument Output to Mobius (this enables sending MIDI to Mobius) Of note: the Mobius AU plug-in does not seem to receive MIDI in Studio One, so I had to use the VST plug. BUT the VST plug in is NOT displaying the loop radars in the UI (the AU does). Has anyone run into this in a DAW before? I'm not sure if I can fix it by changing my display setup from within the Mobius application or not. Last edited by soundog; 01-27-2012 at 10:13 PM. |
